State and US Environmental Protection Agency regulations require that those engaged in asbestos related activities attend a refresher on an annual basis. Training should occur every twelve months from the date of initial certification. USEPA prohibits individuals from working on asbestos activities unless they have attended training in the last twelve months. NYS requires proof of training to apply for annual recertification. Attendees must show proof that they have completed an initial or refresher training in the same discipline in the last twenty-four months to be eligible for recertification.
