ONLINE LEAD TRAINING

  • USEPA Lead Abatement Supervisor, Worker, Inspector, Risk Assessor and Renovator Initial and Refresher training.  These online training classes are done via live webinars.  Each user must have their own device, a webcam, and speakers to participate. Hands-on and course tests will be done in person in Manhattan, Buffalo or on-site, dependent on registration, on a separately scheduled date.

 

LEAD RENOVATORS

  • 8 Hours — For home improvement contractors, property management firms, handymen or others compensated for renovations that disturb more than 6 sq. ft. (interior) and/or 20 sq. ft. (exterior) of paint or surface coating in pre-1978 housing where a child resides or is expected to reside. Includes background, health effects, regulations, safe work practices, paint testing and cleaning verification.

 

LOS RENOVADORES DE PLOMO (LEAD RENOVATORS IN SPANISH)

  • 8 Horas — Para los contratistas de mejoras del hogar, empresas de administración de propiedades, operarios u otras personas compensadas por reformas que perturban más de 6 pies cuadrados (interior) y / o 20 pies cuadrados (exterior) de  capas de pintura base de plomo, en superficies o viviendas construida antes de 1978. También si  la vivienda es donde reside un niño o se espera que residan. Incluye historia y usos del plomo, efectos sobre la salud, los reglamentos, las prácticas de trabajo seguras, las pruebas de pintura y la verificación de limpieza.

 

LEAD RENOVATORS REFRESHERS

  • 4 Hours — For certified renovators seeking to meet USEPA requirements for refresher training every five years.  Includes the latest developments in lead hazard control and updates on regulations and industry standards. The course must be completed before your current training certificate expires.

 

RENOVADORES DE PLOMO RECERTIFICACIÓN (LEAD RENOVATORS REFRESHER IN SPANISH)

  • 4 Horas – Para renovadores que tratan de cumplir con los requisitos de la USEPA para cursos de actualización cada cinco años. Incluye los últimos avances en el control del peligro del plomo y cambios en las regulaciones y estándares de la industria.

 

LEAD ABATEMENT SUPERVISOR

  • 32 Hours — For those who will supervise on-site abatement activities, prepare occupant protection plans and complete abatement reports. Includes health effects, medical monitoring, personal protective equipment, state-of-the-art hazard control strategies, engineering controls, legal liability, insurance considerations, supervisory practices and waste disposal.

 

LEAD ABATEMENT WORKER

  • 16 Hours — For on-site personnel engaged in lead abatement activities in residential properties, including health department-ordered projects, United States Housing and Urban Development grant programs, Public & Indian Housing abatement programs and military abatement projects.

 

LEAD INSPECTOR

  • 24 Hours — For those who conduct lead-based paint inspections, surveys, paint sampling and clearance examinations in target housing and child-occupied facilities. Skills are also applicable for those who perform investigations at commercial, institutional and industrial facilities.
  • Includes sample collection and reporting methodology, including use of x-ray fluorescence (XRF) on-site monitoring instrumentation and paint chip, wipe and other materials sampling.

 

LEAD RISK ASSESSOR

  • 16 Hours — For those who conduct risk assessments, hazard evaluation, and clearance examinations in target housing and child-occupied facilities and those who conduct elevated blood level investigations. Includes HUD protocol and practices for risk assessment, hazard screening, bypass hazard identification and re-assessment.

 

Lead Dust Sampling Technician Initial 

  • 8 Hours — The Initial EPA Lead Dust Sampling Technician Initial Course is a training program that teaches you how to become a certified lead dust sampling technician. You will learn how to perform lead dust testing in residential and child-occupied facilities, following the EPA’s Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Rule and the HUD’s Lead Safe Housing Rule. You will also learn about the health effects of lead exposure, the regulations and standards for lead dust testing, and the best practices for lead-safe work practices.
  • This course is designed for consultants, contractors, property managers, maintenance workers, and anyone who wants to conduct lead dust testing as part of their work or business. You do not need any prior experience or education in lead dust testing to take this course.
  • You must renew your certification by taking a refresher course before your certificate expires.

 

Lead Dust Sampling Technician Refresher

  • 4 Hours — The EPA Lead Dust Sampling Technician Refresher Course is a training program that teaches you how to perform lead dust testing in residential and child-occupied facilities. You will learn how to use sampling devices, collect samples, interpret results, and prepare reports. You will also learn about the health effects of lead exposure, the regulations and standards for lead dust testing, and the best practices for lead-safe work practices.
  • This course is designed for contractors, property managers, maintenance workers, and anyone who wants to conduct lead dust testing as part of the EPA’s Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Rule or the HUD’s Lead Safe Housing Rule. Before taking this refresher course, you must have completed an initial 8-hour lead dust sampling technician course. This course will refresh your knowledge and skills and update you on any changes in the regulations or guidance.
     

LEAD REFRESHER COURSE

  • 8 Hours — Supervisor, worker, risk assessor and inspector certifications must be renewed every three years under USEPA requirements. Course and EPA application process must be completed before your current certification expires.

  • 2-8 Hours — Federal safety standards stipulate that those engaged in site-based activities demonstrate competence in health and safety matters specific to their task. Awareness presentations are tailored for groups who need specialized training in areas such as the following:
    • Asbestos, lead, mold, radon and bio-hazards
    • Hazard communication, personal protective equipment, electrical safety, fall protection and safe work practices
